Machine Shop
Working in Boston University's Engineering Product Innovation Center as a Shop Floor Assistant
In this position, I am frequently trained on the usage and safety of each of these machines in order to effectively assist students in personal projects and help them troubleshoot over the course of their product realization. I often teach classes demonstrating proper usage to develop common skills necessary to operate and utilize these machines.​

In my free time, I machine small gadgets and get more experience with product manufacturing as I refine my skills and bring home trinkets to decorate the dorm!


Water Jet
Teach weekly classes on water jet. Confident in OMAX Waterjet IntelliMAX software and waterjet operation and troubleshooting
Notable projects:

Taught Girl Scouts of America Troops (50 girls) in a volunteer activity to make an aluminum keychain of the Girl Scouts logo

Frequently help students cutting metals for senior design or masters students with research projects

Familiar with troubleshooting; fixed errors during fixture cutting for student (mist clogging garnet tubing, clogged nozzle repair)

Laser Cutting
Teach classes for many students with various materials, from traditional (woods, acrylics) to unique (cloth, rubber), assisting personal projects

Notable projects:

Taught Girl Scouts of America Troops (50 girls) in a volunteer activity to make acrylic keychain that pairs with waterjet cut part

Personal use every other week for lab research, cheap fixtures, housing units, fast prototypes

Use laser cutters multiple times a week, perform regular cleaning, troubleshooting

Lathe
Comfortable assisting students with tool switching, dimensioning, general machining questions

Notable projects:

Completed Manual Lathe 1 Training (3 hour training course for general dimensioning, parting, internal and external threads, and more)

Looking to complete Manual Lathe 2 training before the end of the semester (precision lathe training, with tolerances of 0.003")

3D Prototyping
3D Printing:
Print various projects through common software and printers (Bambu, Formlabs), familiar with pros and cons of various 3DP materials for both FDM (PLA, ABS, PETG) and SLA

Pottery:

Enjoy mutli-media expression in the arts, have taken pottery classes both on and off the wheel

Scanning and reprinting objects (playing with density of tags, quality of scan, time spent on each area) to explore quality of output

Attempted to make a ring holder modeled after my own hand. Project did not fully compile due to small movements of my hand during scanning unfortunately but learned about the tolerance of the scanner with respect to motion

CNC Mill / HSMWorks
Assisting students on HSMWorks, general CNC usage, weekly cleaing and maintenance​

Teach "Coaster" project, which involves teaching students how to create CNC mill projects, coding in G-Code, operating CNC mill

Comfortable changing tools, calibrating location positions, setting up cutting operations

Manual Mill
Adopted manual mill as primary responsibility in the shop for maintenance and proper usage

3D Scanner
Not a required tool to learn as a staff member, but explored this tool in my free time to learn and pursue personal projects.​
